HOUSES

Short history

In 2006 trough the initiative of Mr. Samuel Belmar and the willingness of Mr. Mark John the house system at Saba Comprehensive School was introduced. The system was ably supported by the staff and the then Director, now LT. Governor, Jonathan Johnson.
Students and teachers at the school were divided into 4 groups which became houses with names and colours.
They are as follows:

Red: Joseph Godford Hassell
Yellow: T. Eric Johnson
Blue: Cornelia Jones
Green: A.H.Edwards

Purpose of the house system is to create a bonding between groups of students and teachers, and to build harmony and discipline within the school.
Other functions that the system facilitates are providing a means to generate friendly rivalry and competition in sports and academics, give a feeling of belonging and honoring outstanding Sabans.

How does it work?
The system is a point system, which awards points to house and individuals of the house in discipline, attendance, assignment completion, sports and other activities. Points are totaled and a champion house is declared at the end of the year. The houses and members of the houses are rewarded for their achievements.
The names of the houses were chosen from Sabans who made valuable contributions to their island.
